Dateline Monday 7th October 2024

Happy Monday morning on this sad day, I hope all is well. The weather is going a great job in telling us all it is autumn, last Thursday – Saturday were lovely days the sun shone, and all was well, Sunday was not so. According to the weather forecast today and tomorrow will be quite nice then the temperature will drop by four or five degrees and it will get cold and wet.

Yesterday I attended the 7th October Memorial Event at Hyde Park together with several thousands of other people, I listened to sad, heart wrenching emotional speeches one was delivered by the British mother of the only British / Israeli dual citizen being held hostage in the terror tunnels, twenty meters underground in Gaza by the barbarians that are Hamas together with 100 other hostages of all ages and of several nations. I listened to a speech by a wounded Israeli soldier who had travelled to London having left the hospital only four days prior, he was shot several times by Hamas terrorists, initially the doctors did not think he would survive, I also listen to a speech by The Chief Rabbi the theme of his speech was of hope, prayer and reconciliation. The weather played its’ part it was overcast, cold, windy, with constant drizzly rain that chilled ones heart and soul.

It seems Sir Kier Starmer’s administration is so full of holes it is leaking like a sieve. When he was in Opposition COVID was in full swing, Sir Kier said Boris Johnson's "mismanagement" of the easing of virus restrictions risks a second wave of infections, he urged the PM to "get a grip" and restore public confidence in ministers' handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Clearly the tables have turned, and it is now up to the PM Sir Kier to “get a grip” of his Government. Sue Gray his Chief of Staff resigned, Rosie Duffield a labour MP has resigned the whip, government salaries have been leaked, the Pensioners are up in arms over the axing of their Winter Fuel Allowance oh dear ,oh dear it didn’t take long.

It’s soap box time

Today is ONE YEAR that Israeli babies, toddles, children, teens, women, men and seniors have been held hostage in the Hamas terror tunnels in Gaza, it seems that all the clever men and women of the World simply cannot manage to get a solution agreeable to all sides and to find a way to get the hostages released. It is heartbreaking on both sides of the conflict although now it is all three sides.

The news is all about Beirut, Lebanon, Hezbollah and Israel. The interesting thing is that Iran is orchestrating all of this from Tehran, what is Iran’s problem they have no land border with Israel?

 Off the soap box now

Following the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah last week, the Jewish community now celebrate Yom Kippur this Friday night and Saturday. Yom Kippur also called the Day of Atonement it is the holiest day of the year in Judaism.  Yom Kippur occurs annually on the 10th of Tishrei in the Jewish Lunar Calendar. For traditional Jewish people, it is primarily centred on atonement and repentance. The day's main observances consist of full fasting no eating, drinking, smoking etc for a full 25 hours accompanied by extended prayer services usually at synagogue and sin confessions. Alongside the related holiday of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur is one of the two components of the High Holy Days of Judaism. It is also the last of the Ten Days of Repentance.

If you are observing Yom Kippur may I take this opportunity to wish you a safe and fulfilling fast G’mar chatimah tovah which means May you be sealed for good (in the book of life)

That dear reader that is about it from a David point of view for this week at least.
