Dateline Monday 26th June 2023

Happy Monday, I hope all is well with you and yours. Did you miss me last Monday? did you? did you?

OK so you know I bleat on and on and on about the weather, well naturally the hottest week of the year in the UK so far where was I? not in the UK I was in New York on a site inspection with Beth Lockwood of Details NYC the DMC in New York we at MM and Company have been representing since 2010. The weather was OK in New York had some serious rain on a couple of the days all the other days it was cloudy and sunny then cloudy again when the sun did come out it was hot but for me not hot enough however it was perfect weather for a site inspection. Since I have been back the weather has been “och and vey” a Mum expression not one thing nor the other, just OK although Sunday was amazing.

I am writing this Monday e mail to you on Sunday evening with the Elton John Glastonbury concert playing in front of me so I guess there will be even more mistakes than usual on this Monday morning e mail I will let you into a secret I have seen Elton John in Concert more than 40 yes 40 times I have seen him in Scotland, Istanbul, Abu Dhabi and three times in Las Vegas. I sooooo remember the very first time I saw Elton in concert in fact I still have the ticket stub, it was at The Sundown Theatre, Silver Street, Edmonton London N18

It’s the Meeting Show this week at Excel and OMG we are going to be busy, and I am so looking forward to meeting up with new clients and our legacy clients (love that expression) clients that have known and successfully worked with us and our portfolio of DMC over the years, the many years we have been representing DMCs.

VERY BLOOMING EXCITING NEWS FOR MM AND COMPANY

Watch out for an announcement that MM and Company has signed a representation agreement to represent an awesome DMC in The Netherlands that we have known and successfully worked with for well over 10 years. Oh and here it is, MM and Company has agreed in principle to represent DELTA DMC lead by Alexandra and Andreas based in Amsterdam, but working throughout The Netherlands, in fact a few years ago one of our most prolific clients successfully operated a huge event in The Hague a part of The Netherlands that sometimes gets forgotten in favour of Amsterdam with the DELTA DMC team. More details, lots more details to follow over the next few weeks.

Greece

Nassos and the team at AME DMC have told us about a lovely new hotel that has opened in Athens, called The Dolli. The hotel owners have transformed a listed classical building in the very centre of the awesome old town of Athens, a stone’s throw away from the Acropolis. The historic Kallimasiotis Mansion has been transformed into The Dolli at Acropolis. It has 46 guest rooms, suites or apartments. In 1925 the building was initially designed as a private mansion, however in the mid 1930s it became a luxury fabric department store called the Bazaar d’Orient until 1960 then it was used as other retail space until 2023 when Grecotel unveiled The Dolli.

Germany

Eva and the team at Cornerstone Meetings DMC part of Germanyinsight has told us that NH Collection Frankfurt Spin Tower opened on May 1, 2023. In a central location on Güterplatz, the hotel is housed on the first 20 of 31 floors of a new tower, the 397-foot Spin Tower Guests are welcomed into a 36-foot-high atrium lobby with minimalist design elements and an imposing staircase. The Lobby Lounge offers curated refreshments with comfortable furniture. The signature bar, Oaks at Frankfurt Spin Tower, has impressive views of the financial metropolis with high windows and a terrace. The bar’s name is derived from the spirits aged in oak barrels, which are served alongside cocktails, craft beers. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served directly from the open show kitchen at The Spin. Distributed over 16 floors, the hotel’s 414 guestrooms and suites. The hotel's other facilities include 10,764 square feet of meeting rooms.
