Dateline Monday 10th March 2025

David J Marks

Hey hey good Monday morning on this beautiful sunny Monday morning I hope you are doing wonderfully well and that you enjoyed the sunny sunshine I bought back with me from Cancun and Tulum Mexico where I was on a site inspection with Manuel, Liliana And the team at The EPIC Group DMC I only borrowed the sun from Mexico, it was on the condition that I return it by Tuesday so I am sad to tell the weather in the UK will be a lot chillier and dull with just a smattering of sun from 8,000+ miles away. OK so here is an idea log on to my “go fund me page” donate lots of money so I can go to Dubai and Abu Dhabi to meet the Jyoti, Candy and the TRAVCO DMC team or Miami so I can visit Clem, Nora and the C Florida Hospitality DMC team and borrow their sunshine to bring back to the UK.

I flew back from Cancun on Thursday evening, did the usual across The Pond flight that lands early in the morning on Friday, regardless of how many times I have done these flight I simply find it impossible to sleep on planes so I binged watch a NETFLIX series called ZERO DAY starring Robert De Niro is simply BRILLIANT my type of program, it was six one hour episodes I watched the whole thing on the flight back to the UK. Normally if I am not hooked on a program by 30 minutes into it I turn on to something else, I knew I would love it so I downloaded the series onto my iPad I also downloaded the third series of Reacher which was rubbish but for the want of something better to do I watched that as well although I am not sure I finished it. Watch Zero Day let me know what you think. I am about to start Yellowstone, it looks good too starring Kevin Costner.

So what did I miss St David’s Day, Pancake Day, Ash Wednesday, but we have St Patrick’s Day and Mother’s Day to look forward to as well as Easter although that is late this year.

If you are observing Ramadan, I wish you Ramadan Kareem and I hope that the fasting is going well for you.

Soap box time

The bitter news today, it is 518 days since Israeli and other nations’ citizens were on 7th October 2023 wrenched violently from their homes, streets, fields, and places of leisure in Israel and taken to be held hostage as pawns of war held in squalid conditions in the Hamas terror tunnels in Gaza. A total of 59 Israelis are still being held captive by the group of evil blood thirsty barbaric terrorists called Hamas. Sadly out of the 59 people being kept in horrific conditions only 24 are still alive. Hamas are holding on to the lifeless bodies of 35 dead people as bargaining chips, there is only one word for the kind of behaviour DISGUSTING well that I guess sums up Hamas simply disgusting individuals.  Both sides are back at the negotiating table in Qatar another hot bed of dodgy people, let’s hope something positive will come out of the talks although the Israelis are playing hard ball again cutting off electricity and water to Gaza hopefully the level headed people of Gaza if there are any will start to put pressure on Disgusting Hamas to free the hostages and give the population their normal pre 7th October 2023 life back.

Off the soap box now

Mexico was awesome, so much progress on the Riviera Maya lots of new great in fact awesome hotels and venues, more on Mexico later on social media, whilst in Mexico  I watched the news in Spanish so I had no idea what was going on which I guess is a good thing, however I turned on the news when I got home on Friday morning to discover the world was in a bit of a mess.

An armed and dangerous man was arrested outside the White House in Washington having first been shot by the police which is par for the course if you are armed outside The White House

Storm Alfred if devastating Queensland Australia

Prick Putin has bombed another EIGHT residential blocks of flats in Ukraine killing dozens of innocent civilians and injuring a whole lot more.

The Liberal Party of Canada is electing a new leader who will instantly become the new Canadian Prime Minister.

A 60-year-old man was in a leaking dingy with a bunch of others off the coast of Calais trying to get to the UK, he had a heart attack the migrants turned back to Calais, handed the unwell man over to the authorities in France then set sail again for the Dover coast. Er hello French Authorities aren’t you supposed to stop this reckless behaviour?

A man clutching a Palestinian flag climbed up the Elizabeth Tower which houses our awesome Big Ben Clock that is in the grounds of the Palace of Westminster, the Mother of all Parliaments, he then perched on a ledge waiting for our benevolent authorities to come and rescue him with a cherry picker. Well dear reader if it had been me in charge, I am sure you can guess what I would have done nothing! If Spider Twit can climb up The Elizabeth Tower he can jolly well climb down The Tower. I wonder how much that rescue cost the UK Exchequer. And if he fell, we have a great Ambulance Service and an even greater Morgue Service.

Finally albeit belatedly may I wish all our wonderful UK Women a very happy International Women’s Day, I think that is the proper place for the apostrophe, if it is not I am sure my pal Raymond will tell me.

That’s it from a David point of view for this week and next week.
